Middlefield has appproximately twice as many streetlights for about half as many miles of town roads as Durham. When Middlefield's Energy Task Force suggested eliminating some of those lights to save both money and energy, First Selectman Jon Brayshaw's office was deluged with calls and visits by irate citizens. However, given the current economic climate and need to tighten expenditures, streetlights have surfaced again as place to save money. If you would be willing to have a streetlight or lights in your area turned off, please indicate what that area might be so that town officials can focus on those areas where residents are willing rather than on those whose residents are unwilling.
