Anthony “Tony” Cannata

Anthony "Tony" Cannata, 77, of Middlefield, husband of the late Emily "Jane" (DeForest) Cannata, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in the Hospice Unit at Middlesex Hospital.

 He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Michael and Carmelina (Brunette) Cannata. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army. Tony was a partial owner and daily operator of Industrial Surplus in Berlin for 45 years.
He is survived by his children, Jean and David Anderson of Middletown, Michael and Laureen Cannata of Higganum, and Lisa and Mark Lastrina of Portland; five grandchildren, Kristen, David, Zak, Keith, and Alex; and his feline friend, Charlie. He was predeceased by a sister, MaryAnn Hurd, and a brother, Ronald Cannata

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Colman's Church, Middlefield. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
