John W. Cichon

John W. Cichon, 91, of Durham, husband of 51 years to the late Priscilla (Grenman) Cichon, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Rockfall, the son of the late Paul P. and Anna (Ptak) Cichon.
John grew-up in Rockfall; later married and moved to Durham, where he raised his three children. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 37 years in North Haven. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy on both the USS Eatton and USS Broom. John was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
John is survived by his son, Brian Cichon and his wife Eileen of Portland; his two daughters, Denise Vernale and her husband David of Middletown and Pamela Reeve and her husband James of Middletown; four brothers, Anthony Cichon of Middletown, Paul Cichon of Rockfall, and Peter Cichon of Rockfall, Adam Cichon of Middletown; two sisters, Theresa DiMauro of Rockfall and Rose Misenti of Rockfall; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Cichon; four sisters, Sister Mary Rosemary Cichon, Sophie Barucci, Catherine Branciforte, and Ann Janczura; and his grandson, Brandon Reeve.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at St Mary of Czestochowa Church. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, Friday from 5-7 p.m.
