Patricia (Breininger) McCormick, of Sebring Florida, formerly of Durham and Meriden passed away at home on June 3, 2009, after a courageous battle with ALS. She was the daughter of Frank and Dorothy Breininger and was married for 53 years to James A. McCormick, who died in October.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Diane and Thomas Fitzpatrick of Wethersfield, Pam and David Switalski of Weston, FL, Jay McCormick and Constance French of Beaverton, OR and Tim and Ivonne McCormick of Fort Myers, FL, as well as her "brother", James Benson of Surprise, AZ. She was known and loved as "Nonnie" to her six grandchildren; Katie Switalski, Eamon, Louisa and Bridget McCormick and Maggie and Alison Fitzpatrick. Pat was known throughout Connecticut for her Military Whist card parties. There wasn't a mystery that she hadn't read; a craft she hadn't made or a space she left undecorated during a holiday.
The family would like to express their thanks to her caretaker Vivian who allowed us to honor her wish of remaining at home and her neighbors, Brenda, David, Sue and Hal for all their love and assistance over the past nine months.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in August at St. Mary Church in Meriden with a date and time to be announced. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patricia's name to ALS of Florida, 3242 Parkside Center Circle, Tampa, FL 33619-0907 or Hope Hospice 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield has been entrusted with the arrangements.
